  1. Looking forward to do a web based AR without downloading any apps..I think we need to javascript for it which I dont know.Unity doesnt support WEB based AR.Are there any SDK which can be used along with Unity to create WEB based AR content.
    Aws sumerian? -
after watching this video it seems that we need to build an app.
Zapworks?-Need to download zapper app to view Web AR.

Looking to build where, we can build a sharable link and send it to user to just use a browser to view AR.

  2. there's currently no web based AR that Unity can output.
  3. A
    Any other without downloading apps?
  4. There are quite a few options available (I will only name real applications with cross platform, e.g., Apple's AR Quick Look is neat, but only works in safari afaik, Google has / had a similar project, but hasn't been touched for years. ...):
    • AR.js (based on the ARToolkit) --> Javascript
    • ZappAR --> C#
    • 8thWall (also supports three.js etc., haven't worked with that yet)
There exist probably more solutions, it really depends on your use case and prefered language.
I really hope for a webAR solution in Unity based on ARFoundation, but I guess that won't happen
  5. I was trying AR.js .Any Idea how to get the output?I added a Image Target then added a model then clicked compile files. After that how to view in browser?
  6. I don't exactly understand where you clicked compile and expected to be greeted by some AR application but I would guess you will have to host your project on a webspace to make it accessible? After all, it is supposed to be a web app... You will find help in other forums or tutorials.Although this might be true for simple cases, more advanced stuff would still require some sort of programming language (e.g., C#, javascript), if I understand it correctly. Otherwise, you are limited to the predefined functions provided by the creators. The links provided by you aren't exactly helpful in answering the question of limitation regarding predefined functions.

Btw @davidjohnmather (a bit offtopic, but you seem to be representative of the company): Your support is quite slow and I'm leaning to choose a different platform for an web AR project, simply because nobody seems to bother replying to questions regarding privacy issues (which should be one of the priorities in a web-based AR application). Fast response time is in my personal opinion a key point in customer retention, but you are in good company with Unity in this manner (sorry for the rant).

  7. Sorry I did not provide any links.I was talking about the Unity plugin for AR.js .Have a look at this video
and the videos follwing that.I clicked the index.html but it supports only a .obj file also the materials and textures added are not seen.Hopefully they will come up with a better version plugin .

  8. If you really want to use webAR you should do it without Unity atm. I'm confident that might change in the near future, but right now I don't see a reason to use, e.g., a AR.js-plugin in Unity. For apps I can recommend Unity's ARFoundation though, it works pretty well as far I can tell.
    ROBYER1 and zyonneo like this.
  9. When looking for a web-based AR/VR/XR solution I'd totally recommend Aframe - https://aframe.io
  10. Atm I could find 2 ways for WebAR solution with Unity:
    1. WebXR Ecporter: https://assetstore.unity.com/packag...273.680023419.1632920091-718461424.1630396058
    2. ARWT:
  11. Thanks, but no thanks. It would be nice if It were not limited.
  12. Web Browsers will struggle with most anything worth spending time to make. It's really not the right tool for quality interactive AR, but Google drive$ the web so it gets attention. The reach is broad, but the tech limits and lack of engagement quality were non starters for our clients, and the cost of one-off AR apps was another barrier.
Starting to solve this for us, led us to a new alternative for AR production that still allows us to create complex interactive experiences without having to write code. Since there was no "Youtube" for AR we built one. ARConnex just launched and would love any feedback.

We built a universal Reality Browser based on Unity2020 URP that delivers marker-less and marker-based AR. Upload platform gobbles up assetbundles, and delivers AR on demand via the cloud. Deep-links interconnect AR experience like web-links do pages, so it works like a web browser, but its geared to deliver millions of branded Unity based interactive animated experiences.

Team support allows customers to invite Unity creators to their groups and manage the accounts, or with branding and links integrated into every AR experience published, Unity users can produce and deliver branded AR experiences as an end to end service offering. Pay per engagement lets SMB customers enter the AR arena without the huge upfront costs that killed a lot of our custom AR sales efforts. We opened the free demo accounts to last a year, so if you want to create, check out the How To tutorials. If you do, and would like promo your work free in our AR Showcase drop me a line.
